Mullins- Cornelius W. “Buck” Mayers, 91, died peacefully Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Mullins Nursing Center. He was born in Mullins, a son of the late Neal F. and Carrie Floyd Mayers. He was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Mayers was predeceased by the son Dr. Craig Mayers. He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Helen Pace Mayers of the home; one daughter, Joan Mayers Turner of Mullins; one granddaughter, Ashley Turner Doyle of Charleston, and two great grandchildren, Estelle and Eliza Doyle. The family will receive friends at the home, 207 Azalea Drive in Mullins. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2012 at Cedardale Cemetery in Mullins directed by Meares Funeral Home of Mullins.
